Reading Reflection No. 3

27A – Reading Reflection No. 3 The wright brothers were the first to create functioning flying machine. I didn’t know much about the brother before I started this book. I only knew they were the first. I like their admiration for flight. They were very close brothers who acted more like twins. Wilbur, being the oldest, made sure he looked after his family. Wilbur’s love for flight grew into a reality when he and Orville decided to build their first flying machine and practice flying it in North Carolina.  Both brothers were very dedicated to the pursuit of flight. I admire that even though they didn’t have a college education, they didn’t let that stop them. The brothers faced a lot of adversity and failure during their career. The first flying machine was destroyed after trying to fly it, but they didn’t stop. Many people did not encourage them because few thought flight was necessary. I would like to ask the Wright brothers why they continued to through so much adver...

Your Exit Strategy

28A – Your Exit Strategy I plan to team up with an already existing website to better manage it. I don’t plan on being there forever so I will start creating an exit plan as soon as I begin. I heard that you always need to be working yourself out of a job. So creating an exit plan from the very beginning will help me immediately start working myself out of a job. Once we are able to set up a system of getting the phone numbers to the telemarketing companies, I would like to start training a more permanent person to run this website I don’t want to manage this website for the rest of my working career. Training someone from the very beginning to take over my job seems to be the easiest way to transition me out of this job. I didn’t really think about how I would get out of this company until now, but for me it makes sense that I would need to train someone how to do my job before I leave. If I start training from the beginning then my successor will have all my knowledge a...

Celebrating Failure

26A – Celebrating Failure The week we came back from summer break I completely forgot about the Cupcake for that week. I completed the peer reviews, but spaced when it came to doing the cupcake. I woke in the middle of the night that remembering I had forgotten to take it. I looked to see what time it was so I could run and take it. I was 3:30AM! I missed the deadline. I go so upset at myself for forgetting about the Cupcake. I laid in bed thinking what was I going to do. I realize that it was only 1 point, but I truly didn’t mean to skip the assignment. I don’t remember falling back to sleep, but I did because the next thing I remember was alarm going off. I learned that I need to always complete my assignments at the same time if possible. I have a routine that I normally follow, but on the first Monday back from break I wasn’t back in my routine yet. When I fail at something I get upset at myself. I know that I can do better than what I did or I’m mad at myself for for...

What’s Next?

25A – What’s Next? Existing Market: I will offer the service of stopping unwanted telemarketing phone calls. Many people want to successfully stop these phone calls from happening, but there isn’t a sure way to do that right now. My venture will team up with the current running website to offer better management so the people who are signing up for the service will know their contact information will be removed from the telemarketers call list. Since this is a government ran website I’m uncertain of what product or service we would offer to expand. I have made a plan to start my exit strategy when I start working with the website. I will start by training everyone on how to get the customer’s information to the telemarketing companies. I will then start enforcing the list with the telemarketing company; meaning if a customer complains that after the 30 grace period they are still receiving unwanted telemarketing calls we will call that company and inform them they are no lo...

Venture Concept No. 1

24A – Venture Concept No. 1 Opportunity The service I am offering has a main opportunity of stopping unwanted telemarketing phone calls. The potential customers of this service will be anyone, at almost any age, who has a landline phone or cell phone. The need is stopping the unwanted telemarketing calls. Telemarketing phone calls are one the rise. According to an article released by the Boston Globe last May, telemarketing phone calls has risen from 3.5 million calls to 5.3 million calls in just one year. With this large increase in telemarketing phone calls I think there are millions of people who would also like their number(s) removed from the telemarketers call list. This market is large. This service is available to anyone in the United States. Currently customers can sign up to be added to a do not call list, but it is seemingly unmanaged. I use the word unmanaged because I’m currently signed up for this list, but I still receive phone calls. This is the only service t...

Reading Reflection No. 2

21A – Reading Reflection No. 2 For this assignment, I read The Art of Social Media, Power Tips for Power Users, Guy Kawasaki & Peg Fitzpatrick. This book offer tips and tricks of social media. Each chapter is a different set of tips to help you with social media. This book could help promote service that I want to offer people. If I were to create an assignment based on this book, I would create an assignment asking everyone to promote this product or service using these social media tips. Promoting your product or service on social media could also provide good feedback as to if this will be a success or not. You could also create a poll using Instagram to help find out if your follower would use the product or service. My biggest surprise was the number of social media accounts that I knew nothing about. There are several social media networking sites that I have never heard of and am still not sure the point of them.

Idea Napkin No. 2

19A – Idea Napkin No. 2   1.        You. I am currently seeking my Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration at the University of Florida. I have worked in banking for 10 years and when our regular customers come in; some would want to tell you what they have done since they were last in the branch. So listening became second nature when I saw a regular come in. I feel that I am also a quicker learner. I can usually complete a task after being shown once. I want to manage the website and make sure the telemarketers receive the list of the people who do not want to be contacted.           2.        What are you offering to customers? I want to help stop unwanted telemarketing phone calls. I want to collaborate with a currently unmanaged website to better manage the list of people who don’t want to be contacted and make sure the telemarketing companies have this list and enforc...

Create a Customer Avatar

18A – Create a Customer Avatar My prototypical customer will be anyone who, any age, who has a cell phone. For the purposes of this assignment, I chose someone close to my age. This lady is in her 30’s, married, with no children. She has a cell phone and uses it as her main way to communicate, no house phone. She has had the same cel phone number for over 10 years. She works a full time job that she enjoys. After work she comes home and enjoys spending the afternoons with her husband. She lives a simple, but pleasing life. She just wants to permanently stop the unwanted telemarketing phones she continuously receives on her cell phone. The unwanted calls are nothing that she would every use or want. I have a lot in common with this avatar, because I can also fit into some of this description. I don’t think it is a coincidence that we have several things in common since I would also be a customer of this service. We both have cell phones that are our main way to communicate and g...
