Figuring Out Buyer Behavior No. 2

15A – Figuring Out Buyer Behavior No. 2 Report Findings Like with most people I interviewed not everyone knew there was an online service offered that would allow you to add your number to a Do Not Call list. When I spoke to my interviewees those that didn’t know wanted to sign up immediately so they would no longer receive the unwanted telemarketing calls. There were three people that knew of the service, but had never signed up. When I asked why one person thought it was a scam, one person never took the time to and the last person thought there was a fee and didn’t want to pay for an additional service. When I asked the interviewees about how this service would benefit them, most said that it would stop the calls and a couple said now when someone called their phone that wasn’t in their contacts they would answer it instead of sending the call to voicemail because they wouldn’t have to worry about it being a telemarketer. Draw Conclusions When I realized people might thi...

Halfway Reflection

Image
14A – Halfway Reflection This seemingly is an easy class; there are no tests or textbooks to read. However, when I started looking over the course of assignments I was like wow! There are 3 written assignments due every week! Once I wrapped my head around writing 3 small papers each week I decided to set a goal of writing at least one assignment by Wednesday. I try to watch the lectures within a day or two after they were uploaded. I am only taking 2 courses this semester, but I work full time as well so balancing work time and school time has been an adjustment. I don’t think I would say I felt like giving up, but a few weeks ago I was sick with a sinus infection. I just felt like dying. I had no energy and didn’t think I was going to finish my assignments for the week. I slowly kept pecking away at the keyboard until I finally finished all my assignments due for the week. I know it probably wasn’t my best work, but I know I met the minimum word count and answered all the q...

Reading Reflection No. 1

13A – Reading Reflection No. 1 1) You read about an entrepreneur: ·        What surprised you the most? I was surprised to find out that Phil Knight, the co-founder of Nike first started his business selling tiger shoes under the business name Blue Ribbon.  ·        What about the entrepreneur did you most admire? Phil Knight faced many obstacles while trying to run what would become one of the top athletic brands in the World. No matter what difficulties and obstacles that were put in his path he never stopped working toward his goal of a successful business. ·        What about the entrepreneur did you  least  admire? In the book Phil talks about having trouble with Onitsuka, the owner of Tiger shoes. Phil found out that Onitsuka was looking to find another partner to sell his shoes in America in the course of a meeting Onitsuka stepped out to use the restroom and Ph...

Figuring Out Buyer Behavior No. 1

12A – Figuring Out Buyer Behavior No. 1 Sketching out the Beginning of the Buyer Behavior Each person that I interviewed has the need of wanting to stop the unwanted telemarketing phone calls. Each person had a similar thought process for trying to stop the calls. Several attempted to join the same website that I did. A couple would block the phone numbers as they came in. For need awareness In all of my interviews, each person realized they had the need when they started receiving the unwanted calls. Some of the people noticed there was an increase in the calling, while others still only receive a few phones call weekly. Information search A majority of the people I interviewed went to the Internet to search how to stop the calls. The main answer, so they thought, was the website to add your name to a ‘do not call’ list. A few did notice a drop in phones calls, but it did not stop them all together. One interviewee found from a friend an 800 number to call each t...

Idea Napkin No. 1

11A – Idea Napkin No. 1 Piecing It All Together           1.        You. I am currently seeking my Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration at the University of Florida. I have worked in banking for 10 years and when our regular customers come in; some would want to tell you what they have done since they were last in the branch. So listening became second nature when I saw a regular come in. I feel that I am also a quicker learner. I can usually complete a task after being shown once. I want to manage the website and make sure the telemarketers receive the list of the people who do not want to be contacted.           2.        What are you offering to customers? I want to help stop unwanted telemarketing phone calls. I want to partner with a currently unmanaged website to better manage the list of people who don’t want to be contacted and make sure the t...

Elevator Pitch No. 1

10A – Elevator Pitch No. 1 Please follow the link below to watch my first pitch https://youtu.be/ExLB6nqIjhw

Testing the Hypothesis, Part 2

9A – Testing the Hypothesis, Part 2 Who: I think there are certain businesses that will not need this service of blocking and/or stopping telemarketer phone calls. There are even current cell phone users who won’t need this service with because they are not old enough for their number to out there being sold or because they don’t use their cell phones enough to justify adding it to a “Do Not Call” list. What: This is only targeted towards telemarketing phone calls. This will not stop calls from debt collectors or similar phone calls. Some unwanted calls do need to be made. Why: There is a difference between the outsiders and insiders. Some of the outsiders are not old enough to justify a telemarketer calling them because they can’t make decisions financially as to buy what they are selling or not. Inside the boundary                           ...

Solving The Problem

8A – Solving The Problem The problem: telemarketing phone calls Possible Solutions: To me the first solution would be to upgraded and/or redesign how the “Do Not Call” List works. This was supposed to be the solution, but somehow has failed. On the main page of the website where you register your number, it says that you only have to register once, however even after I added my phone number to this list I still receive unwanted phone calls. Another solution would be to create a way to report the telemarketers that continue to call you even after your number is listed on the “Do Not Call” list. One of my interviewees said she had a number she reported to, but we need something that was more readily known. The “Do Not Call” list is government ran so I’m not sure if the resources are just not available to service this website. If that’s the case I would like to start another website that could better monitor this. If we are able to list a public number to call to report t...

Testing the Hypothesis, Part 1

7A – Testing the Hypothesis, Part 1 Avoiding and/or blocking telemarketing phone calls The who: Anyone with a cell phone The what: They are receiving unwanted phone calls from telemarketers The why: Telemarketers are trying to sell their product Testing the who: Anyone with a phone might have this need. Everyone, rather it’s a house phone or cell phone, has at one time received at least one unwanted call from a telemarketer. Testing the what: These calls are for the most part unwanted because who is really going to take someone up on a “free” trip to the Bahamas. Testing the why: Telemarketers are trying to make a living by selling their product, but there has to be a better way of getting their product or even service out there then by just making random calls. Interview #1 In this interview the person I spoke with receives at least one phone call a day from a telemarketer. She said that sometimes she would receive more. She tried to stop the calls b...

Identifying Opportunities in Economic & Regulatory Trends

6A – Identifying Opportunities in Economic & Regulatory Trends 1. Economic Tread - The Profound Social Cost of American Exceptionalism Source: https://www.nytimes.com/2018/05/29/business/economy/social-cost-american-exceptionalism.html This article brings to light that there are several opportunities throughout the entire United States that could be addressed. The one that stood out the most to me was the fact that America has one of the largest infant death rates in the World. Americans have created so much technology towards finding and treating infant diseases yet we are still one of the highest with infant deaths. This is an opportunity because if the technology exist to save more infants the United States should be using it. If the same technology was created by Americans then being able to get a hold of it should be easier than if it was created overseas somewhere. I don’t believe I am the first to see this opportunity, but I believe that if there is technology ou...

Identifying Local Opportunities

5A – Identifying Local Opportunities Hamilton County to spray for mosquitoes following EEE horse death http://www.suwanneedemocrat.com/news/hamilton-county-to-spray-for-mosquitoes-following-eee-horse-death/article_41c74670-6019-11e8-960a-43dc58438646.html This article is about a pony that died after contracting Eastern Equine Encephalitis from a mosquito bite. This can be transferred to humans by a mosquito bite, which is why the need to spray for mosquitoes was so important. This article was to raise the awareness of the issue because even though the Health Department released the health advisory the day after receiving the positive test results many of the county residents still didn’t know there was a confirmed case. The Problem: There is a large amount of mosquitos in Hamilton County, FL. Trapping of mosquitos confirmed there is a high population in the area. Who: The people in Hamilton county are affected by the mosquito population. Since there was the co...
