Solving The Problem
8A – Solving The Problem
The problem: telemarketing phone calls
Possible Solutions:
To me the first solution would be to upgraded and/or redesign how the “Do Not Call” List works. This was supposed to be the solution, but somehow has failed. On the main page of the website where you register your number, it says that you only have to register once, however even after I added my phone number to this list I still receive unwanted phone calls.

Another solution would be to create a way to report the
telemarketers that continue to call you even after your number is listed on the
“Do Not Call” list. One of my interviewees said she had a number she reported
to, but we need something that was more readily known.
The “Do Not Call” list is government ran so I’m not sure if the
resources are just not available to service this website. If that’s the case I
would like to start another website that could better monitor this. If we are
able to list a public number to call to report the telemarketers that would be
better because if someone is listed on the “Do Not Call” list then they shouldn’t
be allowed to call that customer’s phone.
