Opportunity

The service I am offering has a main opportunity of stopping unwanted telemarketing phone calls. The potential customers of this service will be anyone, at almost any age, who has a landline phone or cell phone. The need is stopping the unwanted telemarketing calls. Telemarketing phone calls are one the rise. According to an article released by the Boston Globe last May, telemarketing phone calls has risen from 3.5 million calls to 5.3 million calls in just one year. With this large increase in telemarketing phone calls I think there are millions of people who would also like their number(s) removed from the telemarketers call list. This market is large. This service is available to anyone in the United States. Currently customers can sign up to be added to a do not call list, but it is seemingly unmanaged. I use the word unmanaged because I’m currently signed up for this list, but I still receive phone calls. This is the only service that I know of that can offer this. This opportunity is large because if this website can be managed to truly stop unwanted telemarketing phone calls, then there will be less calls and more satisfied customers. This service is always available. This is free to sign up for. All you have to do to sign up is provide your name, phone number(s) and email address.

Innovation

My idea is to team up with the unmanaged website to offer a more streamline service of getting the customer’s phone numbers to the telemarketers so they will no longer be able to call them. The innovation of this is not new, but the management of the website will be better because the phone numbers will be given to the telemarketers and they will have to stop calling the customers listed. The website will create income by the advertising done on it. Like most free services, we will rely largely on advertising to help provide the income needed. I would also like to look into a government grant since website is a government ran website. The income we receive from advertising will cover the cost of running the website and payroll for the small crew I will need.

Venture Concept

I plan to team up with this branch of the government to manage this website. By offering better management to this website, we will be able to get new additions to the list and send those to the telemarketing companies. We will advise them they have 30 days to update their records, but after that, they will no longer be able to legally call the phones numbers on this list. There will be consequences if the telemarketing company still calls the people on the list. It will be up to the customer to call us or submit a complaint online. Since this is the only website available to sign up for this service many customers should be signing up for this service since it will be managed better. This will be a government managed website so I don’t know if any competitors. This will be a small department. We will need 3-4 people. We will have someone who can help update the website and keep the information update to date. We will have someone who will reach out to businesses who will want to advertise on our website. We will have someone who will be managing the list and making sure it goes out to the telemarketing companies in a timely manner. We will also need someone who can manage the  list to make sure the telemarketing companies are not continuing to call the customers.

The three major elements

Our most important resource is us becoming a more reliable website. Since many people, I’m sure, have already signed up for this service, but aren’t seeing any results, we will need to build our reliability. By creating a reliable resource more people will be willing to recommend our website and more advertising will come allowing for more income.

I really don’t know what our next venture will be at this point. We have a large need to meet for the customers currently on the list and those who will be signing up in the future.

In the next five years I would have liked to streamline this process so that those not wanting to receive telemarketing phone calls won’t. I would also like to have the steps in place for those telemarketing companies who don’t follow the rules from the list to have consequences set up, including paying fines.

From the feedback I received in my first venture concept post I added clarification about how my team will be paid. I plan on using the money we receive from advertising to pay for payroll. We will have a small crew so I know this will cover my costs.
