Assignment 3A - Your Entrepreneurship Story

When I think of an entrepreneur, I immediately think of my husband. He has started a small business of creating tooled and craved designs with leather. His uncle use to do leather work as a hobby and had stored the tools for several years. On a weekend trip to visit, his uncle gave him all the leather tools and even some old leather he still had. It sat in the closet for a while, but one day my husband pulled the box out of the closet and starting tinkering with the tools and leather. He found out quickly that he not only like it, but was good at it. He posted his creations on social media and soon people started asking him to create leather goods for themselves. He started creating gun holsters and knife sheaths. Then he moved on to tooling belts and then flip-flops. He has made a leather purse from scratch, including tooling it. He has also designed a guitar strip. His newest creations are the leather watch bands for both a regular watch and smart watch.

He is the entrepreneur I see every day. He was able to teach himself how to tool the leather and through the years he has learned different tricks that allow him to keep up with the other leather designers.

I enrolled in this class because it is a required course for my bachelor’s degree. I personally do not see myself as an entrepreneur, but I do support them when I can. Oddly enough, I am interested in learning more about entrepreneurship and maybe even a few more entrepreneurs I don’t already know about.
